Silicon nitride ceramics is a synthetic superhard material. It has good lubricating properties and high hardness, exceptionally high-temperature hardness, so it has outstanding high temperature wear resistance and has the characteristics of corrosion resistance and high-temperature oxidation resistance.

Compared with other industrial ceramics, silicon nitride resistance to thermal shock is also a representative feature. It is heated to over 1000°C in the air, cooled quickly, and then heated promptly without splitting. It is precisely because of its good thermal shock resistance. It is often used to manufacture high-temperature mechanical parts such as bearings, turbine blade mechanical seal rings, Welding molds, etc.

Silicon nitride ceramics also have excellent mechanical properties and workability. The fracture toughness of typical silicon nitride ceramics is between 600-800Mpa, and the hardness is lower than that of a diamond. Its processing is usually based on the different processing technology, using diamond grinding wheels, grinding heads, etc. for precision grinding, cutting, drilling, etc.
